Melanie Martinez - PORTALS Album Review (feat. Talia Polk)| 808s & Cold Takes Ep. 89
Tumblr era Crybaby singer/songwriter, Melanie Martinez, released her latest album “Portals” in March of this year. This album shows the change in sound she’s developing that is unlike her previous albums “K-12,” and “Crybaby,” or her EP “After School.”
In this new project, Melanie Martinez declares her previous character, Crybaby, dead and starts a new chapter with a fairy grunge aesthetic with dark pop songs. Each song has a unique sound that transports the listeners into this new era from the alt-pop age to this new pop-rock version of the artist.
With Portals, Martinez is telling her story of a creature between Earth and the afterlife and explores toxic relationships, self exploration, and life and death itself.
